Sorry for the blurriness. I like the attitude of this statue.

I really wanted to see what was behind these doors. It was an auditorium of sorts. But whatever was going on inside was taking too long, so we moved on.
There wasn’t exactly central heating in the drafty palace, so the fireplace was MASSIVE in order to provide heat to the entire room.
We weren’t even in the main part of the King’s wing, and I was already starting to feel the scope of the imposing size. (But then felt very disappointed by the smallness of the rooms in the King’s wing.)
I loved the architecture in the lower level of the King’s wing of Versailles. Partially because there weren’t many people, partially because it wasn’t gilded, and partially because it was beautiful.
In 2008, the golden gate of Versailles were replaced. The original was torn down during the French Revolution in 1798.
If I was to go back to Versailles, I would do a garden tour. They are immense and stunning and not at all claustrophobic
I couldn’t zoom in on the statues and still have the TARDIS in the shot, but LOOK AT THEM?!
Can you imagine being in one of those rooms and glancing out the window and thinking that there’s a person outside the window? Eeek!
Happy Halloween (soon)!
