TIE stands for Twin Ion Engine. Here I thought it was because they looked like bow-ties.

Look at the SIZE of that engine! It was seriously as impresssive as you can imagine.
I was really sad to have to fog out the girl’s face on the left; she’s giving the BEST look at the TARDIS.
