New Flavours, Contests, and Vacation

Hello,
Lots of exciting things going, my wife is officially a game designer and has signed a contract for a sex-ed game. It’ll be a card game called Blush. If you have any sex questions she will answer some on the blog and use them as research for the game. Go ask anonymously here.

I’ve been hard at work testing new flavours. Our first seasonal flavour available at all our fall events will be:

The Great Pumpkin

A dark roast with pumpkin flavouring
A dark roast with pumpkin flavouring

And the newest flavour in our continuous roster will be:

Jack CoCo’Neill

A light roast with coconut flavouring
A light roast with coconut flavouring

Vacation

My wife is a travel agent (Check out her blog), which means she’s travelled a little and the TARDIS travels a lot, but me, I haven’t travelled for anything but weddings in around four years. So we’re going to Disney World! Yay! I’m really excited.

Between my trip to Disney and needing to do a huge amount of editing on my books (A Study in Aether and Parasomnia), I’m going to take the next three weeks off from blogging.

Don’t worry; I’ll have a special treat for you while I’m away. Tune in next Tuesday for a brand new story.

Coffee and CONs Fall 2015

Hello Coffee People,

Craft Fair By CON Creative Ottawa Nerds and CAPCON Plastic Scale Model Contest are both a month away. YAY!

That means I need to decide what flavours to make and bring to these events. I will have five flavours available; three classic flavours, one new flavour, and one seasonal flavour. They will be available in X-Large (250g) for $20, Large (100g) for $10, and Small (25g) $3 each or 2 for $5.

I need your help (those who may actually buy coffee) to decide which of our classic 8 flavours to bring.

Not So Imaginary

Hello my Imaginary Friends,

Today will be a quick post. I have finished beta-reading and received Parasomnia from my first Beta-Reader. So I’m anxious to get back to editing. I like this part of editing it’s faster and easier for me. Instead of trying to find the problems, it’s trying to fix them. Way simpler.

Not So Imaginary

Did you know that this blog is under a year old? The two blogs that combined to form JenEric Designs are older. Aspiring Something is just under 7 years old and The Travelling TARDIS is just over 3 and a half years old.

In all that time, I’ve always assumed that I was “Yelling into the void” as it were. I didn’t think, other than family and close friends, that anyone was reading. I was wrong. There was at least one person who’s been following both of us for at least six years and they came to introduce themselves at CON a few weeks back.

The person, whom I’ll call C, was really nice and friendly. It was both exciting and surprising to know that someone has read this blog that I hadn’t met. So thanks for reading and following C!

If you’ve been following I’ve been obsessively researching and roasting my own coffee. I’ve sold at Pop-Expo and at CON. My Test Subjects Friends have said they enjoy it, and I’ve loved it. I’ve sold several flavours and lots of bags.

Again I assumed only friends and family were paying attention. Again I was wrong (It happens a lot. I’m ok with it.) this weekend we got an email from someone who’s significant other had bought coffee at Pop-Expo and they wanted to get them a few bags for their upcoming birthday since the SO had enjoyed the coffee. It made me really happy.

Happy

I know one fan of the blogs and one fan of the coffee doesn’t mean we’re suddenly huge. It’s not a viral post, or a publishing contract. But it is a sign that we’re doing something right and getting ourselves out there.

Between that and editing two books that I think are good enough to publish, I feel like a lot of hard work is starting to show progress. It makes me hopeful and after last month, I really needed that.

Dex Morgan is an Ottawa cosplayer, but I found her at Toronto’s Fan Expo. Here she is as Gamora. She made the cassette player to fit her ipod, and she played the soundtrack from the movie while she waited in line!
She will also be at CON Creative Ottawa Nerds on March 21 with her company Geek Charming.
