This hotel was across a little stream from the Santa Fe. It reminded me of an old west-style village. Very cute.

Hotel Santa Fe at Disneyland Paris was cute and played into American stereotypes well. I liked the walk to the parks – it was along a creek with lots of trees. Very beautiful. Look at the cute little designs on the side of the hotel!

Hello Cinephiles,
Today we’re talking about the 2011 movie Lemonade Mouth.

This movie surprised me multiple times. It was well thought out and had some nice twists. There were a few lulls that annoyed me but overall I was pleased by the story.
This is basically a Band AU of Breakfast Club and I love that about it.
Score: 0.5
There was a few awkward moments and I feel like the characters didn’t get enough attention making them more caricature then they already are. However, as far as they did get they were lovely and the actors did a fantastic job.
Score: 0.5
The dialogue in this is adorable, layered, and well thought out. It feels authentic and the line, “I’m not the same person I was two months ago.” reminds me of my high school days.
Score: 1
Very well shot with great stages and it avoided that “Disney Channel Sitcom” look that a lot of the original movies have.
The music was fantastic and got me to buy the soundtrack the night I watched it. Absolutely one of the catchiest and most interesting Disney Channel movie soundtracks.
It’s also great when they cast actors that can sing, dance, and play instruments.
Score: 1
This has all the fun of a band movie, with the fun of a detention movie, mixed with a happy teen drama. Honestly, I loved every moment.
Score: 1
One of the better original movies from Disney Channel. I wish I had watched it as a kid, or even when it came out.
Final Score: 4 Stars
This is Persephone from Lore Olympus. I’m not familiar with that, but I adore Persephone – her story with Hades is one of my favourites.
Also, I adored this crown.

A LOT of art picture Toothless and Stitch together, getting into mischief. So when I found out that Vic Putinski (@incaseyouart on most social media, her store can be found here) was going to wear her new Toothless onesie to Ottawa Comic Con Holiday Edition 2019, of course I immediately planned to put my baby Pegasus in his Stitch onesie so I could get their picture together.
He kept wanting to look at her, which made for a difficult picture session!

Hello Cinephiles,
Today we’re talking about the 2008 and 2010 Movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

The story in this couldn’t be more cliché if they tried. I’ve been over the “lying to be popular” since I did it in first grade. It always blows up and it rarely ends as happily as it does in this movie.
Score: 0
Just as cliché a the first but much less angst.
Score: 0
The characters are so cookie cutter as to be boring. However the young actors manage to bring something watchable to their characters.
Score: 0.5
The characters have changed, if not evolved, to suit the story. Once again the actors are much too good for the script.
Score: 0.5
The majority of the movie made me cringe, however the Mom and the two romantic leads manage to make the dialogue acceptable.
Score: 0.5
I can’t tell if the dialogue got better because of the writing or because the actors grew. It wasn’t enough to make this movie memorable though.
Score: 0.5
There’s a camp and it’s filmed in standard Disney Channel style for the late 2000’s. It’s not as colourful as it could be and most of the shots are either frantic or boring.
The music is barely okay. It’s not bad but it shows that other then the main cast, these are not singers.
Score: 0
This is where the sequel starts to get better. It’s better shot and has more coherent musical numbers, actually using the dancers in the cast.
The music for the main cast is catchy and likeable while the rest is still hum-drum.
Score: 0.5
I spent the majority of the movie groaning or sighing. It’s not much fun.
Score: 0.5
The story was predictable but in a fun way and despite a few lulls, I enjoyed this one.
Score: 1
This movie is angsty and cliché. I really hope my daughter doesn’t want to watch it too often. The only thing that makes it anything beyond truly boring are the main actors.
Final Score: 1.5 Stars
It’s not great but it’s fun and if I want a camp movie that has music I might consider it.
Final Score: 2.5 Stars
Hello Imaginary Friends,
When Dragon gets enough days with no toilet accidents she gets a reward. We started in July and one of her rewards has been “Video Games with Papa”.

We’ve done 3 or 4 sessions now and she’s starting to get the hang of it. We’ve mostly played in the toybox of Disney Infinity and the PS3 Phineas and Ferb Game.
I’ve noticed huge changes in her abilities every time we’ve played. She started the first time no understanding that the remote controlled her character to actually participating in the combat and knowing what buttons to press.
Her hands are still a little small for the controllers, but she’s doing great. Saturday we played hide and seek in the toybox and she started to understand how to find me. Once she’s good enough, we’ll start playing the playsets.
She still gets stuck in corners now, but she’ll get there. She seems to like it and that’s the important thing.
We’ll see how it goes next time.

Hello Cinephiles,
Today we’re talking about the 2016 movie Zootopia.
*This was my favourite movie of 2016*

Fast paced, coherent, with several great messages. It’s strange watching it in a post-Trump world and seeing messages that were clearly political. If by political you mean: don’t profile people, be kind, don’t give in to fear, and don’t give up.
The structure of procedural and buddy cop movie is done very well, with lots of allusions to other movies, while keeping the twist fresh. It’s also re-watchable even if you remember the twist.
Score: 1
To build relatable characters it’s important that they have flaws and strengths. To make great characters you need to have those strengths and flaws be intrinsically linked. Judy’s hopeless optimism and refusal to quit are strengths but they also blind her to the obvious dangers and villains.
Nick’s clever mind and overthinking are great for hustles but they make him doubt everything people do.
Score: 1
There’s a lot said out loud and a lot said between the lines. This movie could have easily been bogged down with world building dialogue but is instead filled with wonderful lines. I love the evolution of Nick calling Judy “Carrots”.
I also love the Disney humour. Hearing Idris Alba say, “Life isn’t some cartoon musical where you sing a little song and all your insipid dreams magically come true. So let it go.” was just the kind of self-mocking humour I love.
Score: 1
This movie is stunning and absolutely beautiful. Zootopia the city is as much a character as a setting and you quickly fall in love with it.
The music is perfect background and the Shakira song is catchy and inspirational.
Score: 1
Other than the press conference scene, I smile and laugh all the way through. It’s a movie that makes you think about the world you live in and the prejudices, while still making silly sloth jokes.
Score: 1
This movie is wonderful and has everything I’m looking for. There are a few contrived moments and it’s not absolutely perfect but it makes up for it in humour, heart, and making you think.
If you haven’t seen it, now is the time.
Final Score: 5 Stars*
*A 5 star review doesn’t mean the movie was perfect nor that it is perfect for everyone but it is a movie I believe is as close to perfect as possible.
