Overwhelmed… Maybe I need a tattoo?

Hello Friends, Family, and Fans;

It’s been quite the year so far (and it’s only June). Between politics, war, and the world in general, I’m feeling worn out and overwhelmed. My health issues (allergies, migraines, bilateral arm pain, and tendonitis) aren’t helping.

There are several things that are helping though. Working from home has been wonderful. I’m more productive and feel better. If I hadn’t been working from home these past months, I would have burned out completely. I really hope my employer makes this permanent.

Skyrim is also helping. When I was off work for a week because of the tendonitis, it hurt to hold a book or a phone but I could rest my controller on my lap. It was familiar with a few differences (I started a new playthrough). It’s gone from a fun game to a soothing comfort activity.

I saw a post (do people still call them that on Instagram?) with a series of illustrations of people wearing pride colours as allies and that it put queer people at ease. I thought that was really awesome. I’m not an ally, I’m bisexual and queer.

The whole concept has made me want to get a geeky pride tattoo. My top contenders are:

  • Rainbow polyhedral dice (each die a different colour)
  • A Star Trek ship silhouette with a rainbow trail
  • The Stargate Earth address glyphs each in a different colour
  • Something Doctor Who or Lord of the Rings

I haven’t fully made up my mind. If you have any ideas, feel free to drop them into the comments.

In short, I’m struggling but I’ll be okay and I want another tattoo…

Stay safe and be kind,

Éric

Baby Pegasus Tattoo

Hello My Imaginary Friends,

Two years ago I got a Baby Dragon Tattoo, in honour of the baby Dragon.

With Pegasus coming, I decided to get another tattoo to match. Again I commissioned the incredibly talented S.M. Carrière to design it and went to Living Colour Tattoo in downtown Ottawa. I requested the same artist Patrick Drouin. He and S.M. worked fantastically on the tattoo and we got a wonderful result.

Here’s what the Dragon Tattoo looked like when I first go it.

After a few years it has faded a little but still looks great.

The colours faded beautifully.

And without further ado here is the new tattoo.

I expect that the colours will fade a little and take on the same pastel hue as the Dragon one has. Here they are together.

Here they are together. Hopefully the kids will work together as well as the tattoos.

I’m extremely happy with them.

What do you think?

Secrets and Truths

Hello My Imaginary Friends,

A few weeks ago I promised secrets; it took a little while for everything to finalize but now the ink has dried and I can tell you.

AJ Travel Logo

First announcement is that I have joined AJ Travel as a travel agent. I’ll be selling travel with my wife and best friend which is something that makes me very happy.

If you haven’t been reading our bi-weekly Fandom Travel Blog, you really should. Jen has been doing an amazing job.

I’ll mostly be specializing in the same things as Jen but with the addition of Culinary Tourism (Food, Drink, Coffee, Tea, Wine, Etc.)

My second announcement is that I got a tattoo. I’ve wanted to get one for a long time and couldn’t decide on what to get. With the arrival of our baby Dragon, I decided to ask the wonderful S.M. Carrière to design one for me and hold my hand through the process.

I went to Living Colour Tattoo in downtown Ottawa and they were wonderful. The original design was beautiful but not perfect for a tattoo so the artist Patrick Drouin recommended some changes and the final product looks great.

I’m extremely happy with it and really thankful for all of S.M.’s help, encouragement, and guidance.

That’s the big excitement for me.

Later Days,

Éric
